Just want to update users as to the progress of FreeVector 2.0.

FreeVector now has advanced rendering capabilities such as Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, true bump mapped terrain. Crisp shadow mapping for views up to a kilometer, terrain without slope stretching textures, a much more robust foliage system, advanced per pixel material shading for pawns, true foliage shadows and phong lighting for world objects just to name a few enhancements. It also now configures itself depending on the system capabilities and is still only pixel shader 2.0 necesary. Loading and runtime speeds are now much faster and a more robust physics system has also been implemented. A dedicated world editor along with other tools and plugins for the engine will also be included. Bug fixes include no more hardcrashes on incompatable systems and backup software shaders for non compatable systems. It will still be totally FREE and screenshots should be available in a few weeks.

Thanks to all who have tried and supported FreeVector. You will be much happier with version 2.0!

Hi
Any news about when version 2.0 will be ready ?
I like the version that is available now, but feel kind of lost without
a world editor, as I am used to using engines that have them,
so I am looking forward to version 2.0.  :)
I don't want you to release version 2.0 until you think it is ready,....
I think this engine has good potential,....so take your time,...and make
it the best you can.  
I can't wait to try it out.  :)

Thank you very much for the good words! Right now I'm just finishing off the foliage system which is similar to the SpeedTree 2.0 commercial system. I'm just making sure that it has a smooth LOD transition. THe world editor is almost done, but I'm thinking of adding the ability to modify the terrain from within the editor as well. I can tell you that the new system only requires text editing for writing custom scripts and even then, there is also a visual script editor that can eliminate that. I'm also sitill collecting some nice looking models for the screenshots. Once again thank you for the good words, they are always an inspiration to produce a quality engine.

Thanks for the reply,...  nice to hear FV2 is still in development.  :)
The foliage system sounds cool, and as for adding the ability to modify the terrain from within the editor, I think I would prefer that, as that is the way it is done in the other editors that I have worked with,...so I am used to doing it that way, and probably most other people are too I guess, so I think that would be a good idea.
Like many other people, I am a complete and utter "non coder", so for people like us, our choice of engines is very limited, and the other "no coding" engines I have tried all have problems, limitations or bugs in them, so it has been a bit frustrating to say the least,.......and that is why I took an interest in FreeVector 2.
Version 1 has it's limitations of course, but with a bit of luck V2 will sort those out, and for me personaly, I never had any problems or bugs with V1, everything worked as it should,....nice. :)
So the very best of luck to you with V2.
